Depends: It sounds like you did not experience any vision changes, but rather had discomfort. The heat applied by gentle compression seemed to alleviate your pain. I would say that you're probably fine. However, if any change in vision or recurrent pain, just have your eyes examined for reassurance. Be careful next time.
