This could be...: This could be many things ranging from serious to unremarkable. Generally speaking, a complete physical exam, with particular attention to the lungs would be indicated. The differential diagnosis would include pleurisy (inflammation of the lining of the lungs due to viruses, etc.), pulled muscle, costochondritis, pneumothorax, etc. Make sure your parents/guardians know and get checked out.

I have been waking at night with a sort of "tightness" along my sternum with what I would describe as uncomfortable (not painful) breathing. It is also accompanied by an anxious feeling.
