Either, but: The tampon cannot get lost in the vagina, if you are able to insert you fingers and feel the tampon, then you may be able to remove it with gentle traction. If you cannot get it to come out, then call your doctor or go the an urgent care - the ED at a hospital will be able to remove it, but that may be quite expensive.
