Force: regurgitation is usually effortless bringing up of food and may be due in part to decrease in pressure of the lower esophageal sphincter. It is not a spasmodic event. Vomiting on the other hand is a forceful bringing up of stomach contents To eject part or all of the contents of the stomach through the mouth, usually in a series of involuntary spasmic contractions.
