A member asked:

What would cause someone to not have sufficient titers to rubella during prenatal blood work but was immunized?immune deficiency?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not uncommon: Many do show up as lacking in a "protective level" of antibody on prenatal blood work but had the vaccine in childhood. There is some question whether the protective level is set too high, and the person is immune, but risk may remain.Since the damage of rubella can be so severe, most go ahead and get a booster to be sure.
