Not necessarily bad: This is day 12 of your cycle and some bleeding can occur mid cycle because of the hormone swings that take place with ovulation. If that is the case, the bleeding should be short lived and your period should start in 14 days. If the bleeding continues or you start having pain, you need to be seen. Hope this helps.

No worries: Most women have unusual periods once in awhile, usually for no apparent reason. There is no real reason to be concerned unless you have have unprotected sex since your last period. Sexually transmitted infections can cause changes in menstruation. Unprotected sex would also make pregnancy a possibility, but that unlikely given the menstrual bleeding.
