Closeness YES: The closeness of someone can cause pinkeye. Certain viruses such as adenovirus are airborne droplets. In close contact with someone who has this virus ( such as kissing) you can get close enough to come in contact with the virus in the air or on their skin.

Where r u kissing?: Most acute conjunctivitis (/="pink eye") is from a virus. Some notice 'common cold' type symptoms, others don't. Could transmit this virus by kissing and then later (cpl-few days) get pink eye, but not highly likely. Much more likely person w/it touched/rubbed eye-->got virus on hand-->held person's hand / touched their face / etc.-->they got infected.

It is possible: Most adult pink eye is due to a virus spread by contact. if the eye is infected, there may be some virus on the cheek and lips This could spread by kissing and then if it travels to your eye it could be infectious. I would give you a 15% chance of this happening.
