Doctor told me in hospital my blood was too acidic from veins. however they were unable to get any blood from my wrist.let me home. why is it acidic?

Let me clarify: Determining blood pH requires a draw from a wrist artery, as vein blood has more acid from the tissues. Most of the acid is carbon dioxide / carbonic acid which is blown off in the lungs. Evidently, they didn't need your arterial blood pH after all to decide you were well enough to go home. As a lab doctor, I'm always reminding folks -- the most important test is "How do you FEEL?"
