Let me clarify: Determining blood pH requires a draw from a wrist artery, as vein blood has more acid from the tissues. Most of the acid is carbon dioxide / carbonic acid which is blown off in the lungs. Evidently, they didn't need your arterial blood pH after all to decide you were well enough to go home. As a lab doctor, I'm always reminding folks -- the most important test is "How do you FEEL?"
