Clopidogrel sold as: an anti-clotting agent, slightly more potent than aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid) & suppresses induction of platelets (cell fragments from megakaryocytes in the bone marrow) to become more active in signaling both platelets to attach & the clotting proteins to activate. Once exposed to clopidogrel, response persists. Platelets life-span ~10 days, thus the duration of response. Risk: ↑ed bleeding.
