Depends: It depends if you have pain anywhere else and the cause of the AVN. The shoulders among other joints can be affected. We think about 3% of those with AVN get it in multiple joints. So most likely it will not affect other joints. However, if you have pain beginning in any other joints, it is important to stop any painful activities and be seen by your doctor immediately.

Probably not: There are some conditions which result in AVN of multiple joints besides the hips which are related to other diseases. These are well know diseases in western society, but still relatively rare. If you have severe pain in another joint, see your Doctor for an evaluation to see if you would benefit from another MRI study.
