Ear wax softeners: Olive oil is okay but there are specific preparations of ear wax softeners that may work better. One is called Debrox but there are many other. You can buy them in the pharmacy, Good luck.

Ear wax: Olive oil is benign .Can try hydrogen peroxide diluted in half in water once a day x 3 days (instill once a day in ear leave in 20 minutes, then drain it out and try to gentle rinse out with water 1 time after ward ) or Debrox ( not sure if they have it in Britain)Discuss with doctor
