Needs evaluation: Coughing up bloody sputum could be a sign of many different diseases - of your respiratory, digestive or hematopoetic system, or it couId be a sign of an autoimmune disease. It also often happens in smokers. Some people experience such symptoms during winter months when the air is dry. In any case, you need to see a doctor.

See doctor: Please see a doctor as soon as possible. Blood in the sputum can be from something like bronchitis but can also be a sign of something more serious like tuberculosis or lung cancer. This is not an emergency but please do not ignore this. See a doctor soon.
