M.D. follow up: The area that you are referring may be the trachea, esophagus or thyroid ( a little bit higher ) . There are many possible causes. Please watch for any problems breathing, fever, persistent cough for three weeks or longer. Avoid smoke exposure, keep well hydrated. Does she have a history of wheezing or asthma?

Evaluate: There are many causes for such neck spots. Have her seen by the pediatrician. It is best nit to speculate without seeing it. If it is raised, or has a pit, it may ne related to the thyroid. Skin has many elements that can appear to get bumpy and painful, including infection. Typically cancer is not the first thing you should think of. But a checkup will clarify that soon. Wish you well.
