Serous Otitis...: Fluid in the middle ear is not an acute ear infection and therefore doesn't warrant treatment with antibiotics. Sometimes, a steroid nasal spray is used to help reduce inflammation around the eustacian tube that may be preventing the fluid from draining. Most often, if this is a new finding - time is the perfect treatment . If fevers/pain develop return to check for acute infection.
