To a point...: As your teeth move, the splint will need to be constantly modified. Speak to your dentist.

Definitely, yes: if indicated. The stabilization splint will reproduce an ideal bite providing support for your teeth, jaws while relaxing your muscles. Ask your orthodontist for more information.

Not a custom one: If your bite splint was custom made to your bite, you should probably not use it as it will likely be holding your teeth much as a retainer would. Some times our patients use over-the-counter (not boil-and-bite) guards with good results.

Not required: As an Orthodontic Specialist guides and improves your occlusal relationships, the need for splint therapy deminishes. Use of occlusal splint during Orthodontic care may actually slow and/or adversely affect tooth/jaw relationships. Please discuss your concerns with a fully qualified Orthodontic Specialist.

Spint + Braces?: The answer is "maybe". If you have braces on only one arch (upper or lower) you can still wear a splint on the arch that does not have braces. However, at some point, you may have to go w/o wearing your splint IF your goal is to correct your entire malocclusion. Speak to your orthodontic specialist about these issues.
