You can try: Any of the drugs in ppi (proton pump inhibitor) class. In us, it is prevacid, protonix (pantoprazole). Or h2 blocker, such as zantac or tagamet. It sounds like heartburn, acid reflux. But it can also be alkaline reflux (of bile), so if these don't work, try sucralfate. Ask your surgeon for guidance.

Began after surgery?: While it could be related to your surgery, more likely its just heartburn. Have you tried any meds? Response? If you get good relief from anti-acid medications it may just be reflux, gastritis etc. Have you seen your surgeon? There are a few studies he/she could do to rule-out a problem and then move forward with treating your heartburn. Or see your primary.
