Rule out pregnancy: If you are having consistent irregular periods, you should go in to see a gynecologist. Even if you aren't pregnant, certain tests need to be done to evaluate the cause of your irregular cycles. Pregnancy is always ruled out but often blood work, an ultrasound and biopsy may need to be done. Your risk of abnormal cells developing in your uterus is increased with irregular cycles.
