What element is necessary for thyroid function?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Many: Hi. Each element in the periodic table is an atom with unique chemical properties. The main elements (atoms) in thyroid hormone are carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, hydrogen, and iodine. They are all necessary. Iodine may be what you're looking for, however. It's unique to the thyroid. Bear in mind if you're hypothyroid, taking iodine WILL NOT HELP. Good luck!
