A member asked:

Dental: yesterday, hygienist said i can use bristle go-betweens on all front bottom teeth. does she mean this takes the place of flossing?

Yes and no: Nothing replaces flossing. The go-betweens which we call the proxabrush helps clean large spaces between teeth easily but not meant for normal or tight spaces. For the latter two floss is the only recommendation. I always tell my patients that the go-betweens are meant in spaces where they can be easily fitted and not forced through. If you use force then it is not meant for that space.

Definitely, no: Bristle go-betweens does not replace daily brushing and flossing but should be done following your hygienist instructions.
