I would be concerned: To rule out a clot in either of his legs, this would take precedence over other diagnose as this is serious. Swelling of legs is not unusual for someone with kidney failure. Elevation of legs and salt restriction is a must, need to discuss with kidney doctor. Physical therapy could help your dad get up from seated position but make sure no clots in leg.
