You need to see: a podiatrist to treat the hammertoes, and/or an Orthopedic specialist to treat your knee pain. It sounds like poor foot support from abnormal anatomy/ gait has caught up to you. Or the problems could be independent of one another. Use some glucosamine chondroitin to see if your knee and ankle pain will improve.

Swelling and pain.: Typically, a hammer toe would not cause ankle and foot swelling, as you describe. The constant ache/pain is concerning in that it goes all the way to the knee. The significance is that you could be describing a condition involving an inflamed blood vessel or possibly, a clot, in your leg. I would see a doctor immediately, since clots, left untreated, could have catastrophic results.

The hammer toe: doesn't have anything to do with the ankle and foot swelling…you should see a doctor to get to the bottom of your problem.
