Think athlete's foot: It is not unusual to have a fungal foot infection in between the toes. Use an over-the counter antifungal such as lotrimin (clotrimazole) af as directed. Using absorbent foot powders can help as well. If this persists, or begins to burn or itch talk to a podiatrist or dermatologist.

Athlete's foot: It sounds like tinea pedis, known as athlete's foot. Try an over-the-counter antifungal twice a day. Stick with a solution or gel. Avoid creams between the toes as that holds moisture in and can make it worse. If this does not improve in a few weeks see a podiatrist. It could also be a bacterial infection.
