Cerclage?: Perhaps you are referring to a cervical cerclage. This is a stitch that is placed in the cervix to help strengthen the cervix to help it hold in the pregnancy. It is a simple outpatient surgery that takes less than 5 minutes. It is generally done under anesthesia.
