A member asked:

How much of an hiv risk is unprotected oral sex, whether giving or receiving? i took an at home oraquick test for hiv and it came up c (negative)

A very large risk: Any form of unprotected sex leaves you susceptible to HIV. Please always use protection during oral or traditional sexual relations regardless of giving or receiving it does not matter. A life of anti-viral medication or at worst death is not worth it.

LESS RISKY: LESSS RISKY THAN INSERTIVE OR RECEPTIVE VAGINAL OR ANAL INTERCOURSE. THE ORAQUICK IS A GOOD TEST THOUGH.

Less Risky than othe: HiV transmission by oral sex is less risky than vaginal and anal sex.But there is still a certain degree of risk And Oraquick test is quite reliable

Virtually no risk: Mixed replies; I hope this doesn't add confusion. Can't say zero risk, but HIV has never been proved to be transmitted mouth to penis. Slight risk penis to oral, but estimated at 1 in 10,000, equivalent to giving oral to infected men daily for 27 years before transmission might be likely. No known cases for oral-vaginal in either direction. Very low risk plus neg test is 100% conclusive.

Oral Sex = Low Risk: While transmission is biologically possible, the risk is so low that it is not possible to put a precise number on it. http://www.cdc.gov/hiv/risk/estimates/riskbehaviors.html
