A member asked:

Daughter on period less than 1 year has been having an extremely really light 1 this month but it's been going for 9 days is it normal?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Probably normal: During the first 1-2 years after starting to have periods, they can be very irregular. I tell my patients, "You might have periods every 6 months or every 2 weeks, they can be heavy or light, and they can last anywhere from 1 to 14 days." Until a girl is ovulating, which can take 1-2 years, all bets are off.
