Sinus swelling/pain: 24 year old male wakes with intense nose/sinus pain/ pressure for several hours due to infection causing inflammation and swelling of the nasal passages and the sinuses around the nose. Inflammation causes pain and swelling blocks the sinus and air passages making breathing uncomfortable. The position of the head while sleeping can also worsen the blockage.
