Depends on symptom: If her symptoms are mostly nasal such as congestion or nasal drainage, nasal steroids are most helpful. If you are considering injection, long acting steroids can be helpful, such as kenalog, (triamcinolone) though it can have other side effects. If you have more generalized symptoms, an antihistamine is helpful.

Allergic Rhinitis: There is no safe once yearly injection. Those are called kenalog (triamcinolone) steroid shots, and steroids have many long term side effects. Start with salt water washes twice daily and add an air purifier and humidifier to the bedroom. Keep pets off the bed and out of the bedroom. See an allergist for testing and appropriate med recommendations.
