Are there known side effects of not getting enough sun exposure without sunscreen? do the risks outweigh the skin if skin cancer from sun exposure?

Vit D and Sunscreen: The lack of vit d is a huge issue these days. Using sunscreen at all times can reduce the skin's ability to convert vit d to its active form. Vit d deficiency has been linked to several cancers. On the other hand the benefits of using sunscreen outweight this risk. Increased sun exposure can lead to several skin cancers including melanoma that can be deadly. Vit d can be supplemented with pills. S.

No: This risk of skin cancer outweighs the risk of sun exposure. We have strong evidence that wearing sunscreen on a regular basis decreases the risk for developing skin cancer.

Sun : Some sun exposure is needed for vitamin d production. Too much sun leads to skin cancer . If there is a concern of vitamin d deficiency a simple blood test can check levels. Vitamin d supplements may be taken.
