Yes: Just because you don't have a family history doesn't mean you can't get it. Wearing sunscreen is helpful, but nothing is 100% protective. Don't be overly worried, but use commom sense. When out in the sun, Continue to use sunscreen, wear a hat to block sun, seek shade when possible, avoid the time of day when the suns rays are strongest 10 am to 2 pm, avoid tanning beds, wear protective clothes.

Yes: Yes. Skin cancer does not tend to run in families. Although sun exposure is the most common cause of skin cancer, some people get skin cancer even "where the sun doesn't shine."
