Why aren't all benzodiazepines prescribed to be taken under the tongue like ativan (lorazepam) is prescribed?

Sublingual admin: Lorazepam is one of only psychiatric drugs with a sublingual formulation. Quite simply, most of the other benzodiazepines aren't formulated this way (except alprazolam).

See below: Ativan (lorazepam) is not prescribe for sublingual use. It does not get absorbed sublingually, but it dissolves quickly in saliva, regardless of where it is placed in the mouth, and then is swallowed like any other pill. Other benzodiazepines require different manufacturing processes and their tablets won't dissolve readily in saliva.
