Ligament injury: It's unlikely a joint dislocation although I've seen plenty of patients with "normal" X-rays who have significant joint injury. I recommend you see an orthopedist or Hand specialist asap. The hand is intolerant of injury and missed problems can really leave lifelong problems.

I suspect I have a fractured middle finger on my right hand, since last Sunday, 14th. It's painful and swollen between the joint and knuckle. I didn't have an xray. I'm 72?
