what does it mean when your finger joint feels out of place and you cant really bend it. also, got an xray and they said they is no evidence of an acute injury.

Ligament injury: It's unlikely a joint dislocation although I've seen plenty of patients with "normal" X-rays who have significant joint injury. I recommend you see an orthopedist or Hand specialist asap. The hand is intolerant of injury and missed problems can really leave lifelong problems.
