Statin: Your Mom's taking a medication in a class that very widely used and seem to over a very favorable risk-benefit ratio in hypercholesterolemia. It good that you care, but if this causes you "great tension" at age 18, you won't be able to cope with life in general. There are some risks, Mom's doctor has explained them, and your Mom will be happiest if you stop worrying and develop your own life.
