? cause: Here are a couple of ideas: sciatica or compression of the sciatic nerve (potentially caused by herniated lumbar spine disc) & possibly made worse by lying down could be the cause. Or restless legs, thought to be a blood vessel phenomenon. Peripheral neuropathy from diabetes could be another cause, or even MS. This needs an evaluation by your doctor; make an appointment. Good wishes:)
