No nurse aids mostly: What is the difference between practical nurses & physician assistant? Former trained by nurses; later trained by physicians. The concept of physician assistants started with military corpsman trained in emergency battlefield emergency first aid, some became quite good, wanted to continue in medicine after military service & were seen as potential excellent physician aids with additional training.
