Why does a doctor tell you to take a bath with bleach?

Bleach.: Most won't but it has been recommended for some people who are carriers of mrsa. It must be diluted with water and usually done with a wash cloth for a quick pat down. Don't recommend too much bathing or soaking with it. Once again most doctors do not recommend this as bleach can injure the skin.

Depends: Bleach baths are often recommended to reduce bacterial counts on the skin and can be helpful in certain skin problems.
