Yes, it can be: Lorazepam and its relatives can produce anterograde amnesia, or difficulty creating new memories, close to dosing. Not all learning is eliminated, but in order to remember something, it has to be noticed and recorded in memory first. If your perceptions are not clear, this recording will not happen. These effects increase with dose. Benzo relatives with multiple metabolites worsen this also.
