Treating fever: Fever is our body's way of fighting infection. In people with normal brain function, temperature will rise and fall on it's own without intervention. Treating fever with fever reducer medications makes this process occur faster, but does not treat the cause (the infection). Unless a child is prone to having febrile seizures, there is no need to interrupt rest to give fever medications.
