Multiple causes.: Infection, fever, hyperthyroidism, tachycardias (arrhythmias) are just a few of the more common causes. It merits a visit to ones doctor for a careful history and physical exam, and possibly an EKG, blood and urine tests. Usually, the underlying cause is apparent immediately. In rare instances, unusual causes require special testing.
