Soap and water: Simply wash with soap and water however you normally bathe. There is no need for anything special.

Cold sores: Wash your hands after touching a cold sore. Don't touch your eyes, genitals after touching your cold sore; you could develop an ocular herpes infection, which may lead to blindness if left untreated or genital herpes.Replace your toothbrush. Don't kiss someone who has a cold sore or use that person's utensils, towels, or razors. Do not kiss others when you have cold sores or symptoms without the sores.
