A member asked:

Can you have bppv if the dix-hallpike test is negative? i have vertigo for three months, plus tinnitus, doctor making wait two months for follow up

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Possibly: BPPV is the result of loose otoconia in the vestibular inner ear and usually lasts for seconds with particular movements of the head. It usually resolves without any medical treatment. The tinnitus is a central excitatory problem and may not be related to the BPPV. 3 months of BPPV, if that is the correct diagnosis, is quite long and I would strongly recommend vestibular rehabilitation.
