A member asked:

What does the oviduct do? why is it shaped like a funnel?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Fallopian Tube: The oviduct, or fallopian tube, picks up the egg that is ejected from the ovary during ovulation and transports it to the uterus. During a cycle where pregnancy occurs, fertilization actually occurs during this transit cycle. The funnel has tiny little fronds on it that wave in the fluid of the pelvis, drawing the egg into its opening, almost like the tentacles of a sea anemone.
