Yes: but the effect is complicated and depends on the quality of the marriage. In very broad terms, a marriage where both partners are committed, communicate respectfully and feel a strong emotional connection is beneficial. A marriage where there's harsh conflict, distrust and/or an emotional disconnect has a general adverse effect. A good marriage takes committed care from both partners.
