The : The yoga is a step in the right direction. A regular exercise program of some sort that agrees with your lifestyle can be very helpful--walking every day, bicycling, or perhaps an aerobics class. If you are not pet-averse, you might consider getting a dog as the love is unconditional and you'll be forced into regular walks with company. You'll also meet people walking their dogs. There are animals available through the rescue services if you don't want the hassle of a puppy training.

Therapy: Sounds like you've been thru lots of powerful changes and would benefit from talking with a therapist abt: 1) ways to manage stress (eg cbt skills, meditation, etc); 2) how to emotionally process loss of marriage, and reframe your life and role as single; 3) explore if clinically depressed, and how to address that; 4) assess whether couples counseling or uncoupling counseling could be helpful.

How can I manage the negative emotions associated with giving birth to a preemie?

Talk about it...: These feelings can be normal. I recommend that you discuss your feelings openly with your partner, family & friends. Often talking about your feelings helps. If that isn't making you feel better talk to your md. Mom's of premature babies often feel guilty about the early birth - even when they did nothing wrong. If symptoms persist talk to your md and be screened for possible postpartum depression.

No: Swelling of any type is caused by body fluid in places where it normally should not be. When you are pregnant your body produces more blood cells and more serum (the fluid that blood cells float in). This increase in cells and fluid are important for the developing baby, but it can also lead to swelling during pregnancy. Extra fluid accounts for about a quarter of the weight that a woman gains.

Depression: Teens are at risk for pregnancy and postpartum depression. They often feel isolated from their friends and left out of social functions. They are also less likely to finish school or attend college than their non-pregnant friends. Teens are also more likely to experience mood swings from hormonal changes during pregnancy.

Steroids absorbed : Depending on which topical steroid, how much is applied to how much skin area, and for how long there could be enough systematic absorption for effects to other areas. Realize that would also imply greater likelyhood of systemic side effects.

How long might one have basal cell skin cancer on his face without knowing it?

Basal cell cancer: Basal cell cancer, the second most common skin cancer, is very slow growing. Depending on the location, on how perceptive and how educated one is about these, it could be there for 1-2 years before drawing attention.
