Many reasons: It is the natural product of evolution to provide the best nutrition for a growing baby. In the first several weeks it transfers antibodies and special nutrients as well. The act of breast feeding is good for the mother and the child (bonding). A few additives to the already artificial formulas are probably not useful or necessary.
