Would liver failure affect your breathing rate?

Yes: Im several ways. In liver failure, fluid can accumulate in the abdomen (ascites) that can push up on the diaphragm & cause trouble bleeding. There is also a very specific syndrome, hepatopulmonary syndrome, that can cause shortness of breath.
