Many things: Nicotine and a multitude of other poisons and toxins. Also, the heating and drying out of the oral tissues is harmful. Everything bad, nothing good. Not to mention the harmful effects on your skin, and the irritation of the eye tissues. Just look at the faces of smokers and see the facial movements as they smoke. Think hard about this addiction and quitting it for your health. Good Luck.

If you mean: chewing tobacco but not smoking, the risk shifts from the lungs to an alternate area, in this case the gums or inside lip or cheek. Peace and good health.
