Depends: Depression is a normal response to the environment. i.e. when someone close to you dies. When it is too strong or lasts too long we call this clinical depression and it denotes a problem with mental health. The assessment of whether depression is appropriate or pathological can often be done by laypersons. Treatment can put clinical depression into remission of remove it completely.
