Is it possible for a caudal spinal steroid injection to cause cauda equina syndrome symptoms?

Doubtful: These injections are usually a combination of cortisone and local anesthetic ( Lidocaine, novocaine, marcaine, etc.)-no: these mediciations should provide relief and anesthesize the area.

Not likely: Because the spinal cord ends at bout vertebral level L1 (range T12-L3) and epidural injection is performed at L4, the risks of the injection does not include direct injury to the spinal cord. Hope that helps.
