Sciatica: Sciatica in 20 year olds is rarely due to a central cord lesion it is usually due to a disc pushing on the nerve root at the neural foramen. It is unlikely that sciatica will progress to cauda equina syndrome. If your symptoms are significant then see a back specialist, and they can examine you and determine an appropriate treatment plan. Most episodes of sciatica resolve on their own in a month.
