Depends: If under 2 months, give nothing and call your doctor asap. Over 2 months can get tylenol (acetaminophen), (acetaminophen) over 6 months can get advil/motrin or the tylenol (acetaminophen). But regardless of age, if febrile and that child isn't acting well, then you need to contact your doctor asap.

Why the fever?: Depends what the fever is from. Most common infections that cause fevers do not hurt your baby. There are some, though, that can - rubella, for example.
